Navy Exchange

Whether you are on board ship, on the shore or online, the Navy Exchange always has something good for you.

The Navy Exchange (NEX) operates over 300 stores at 107 Naval installations around the world, and also operates the Navy Lodges and Ship Stores. Its mission is to offer quality goods and services at a savings and to support Quality of Life programs. The stores offer both name brand products and a complete line of private label products with a high level of quality at the best value.

In addition, there are over 1,200 service operations such as gas stations, food outlets, laundry/dry cleaning, barber/beauty salons, flower shops, tailor shops, optical and optometry services, complete vending services and nine NEXMARTs, which are combined commissary and exchange operations in overseas locations.

Navy exchanges are located at Singapore and Bahrain; in Japan at Atsugi, Hario, Negishi Heights, Sasebo, Tokyo and Yokosuka. In Africa there is an exchange at Djibouti, and in Europe they are located in Greece at Souda Bay; in Italy at Capodichino, Gaeta, Naples and Sigonella; in Spain at Rota, Moron and the embassy in Madrid, and in Portugal at Lisbon.

In addition to the onshore facilities there are about 155 Ship Stores on US Navy commissioned ships. They carry basic necessities such as soap and shampoo as well as a limited selection of semi-luxury items such as watches and consumer electronic items. Services aboard ship are barber shops, laundry, vending and amusement machines, and dry cleaning on the larger ships.

The mission of the Ship Store program is to provide quality goods at a savings; to provide quality services necessary for day to day living; to provide funding for afloat recreation needs and to promote good morale. Ship Stores are appropriated fund activities, but are authorized to make profits, which are retained on board to support the ship's morale, welfare, and recreation programs.

EXCHANGE CATALOG

The Exchange Catalog is a great shopping alternative overseas, especially for those at the remote duty stations. NEX along with AAFES, MCX and the Coast Guard Exchange System, is a joint sponsor of the Exchange Mail Order Catalog Program. You may obtain a copy of this catalog at any Navy Exchange or by calling, toll free, 1-800-527-2345.

The catalog is also available online at www.navy-nex.com (click on Exchange Catalog), where you can find an expanded selection of merchandise. Included are weekly specials and close outs. Shipping and handling is free on most items to customers using their Military Star Card.

NAVY UNIFORMS ONLINE

Shopping for Navy Uniforms is easy with the on line site at www.navy-nex.com (click on Navy & Marine Corps Uniforms). You'll find a very wide selection of items not carried in the Navy Exchange. Regular shipping and handling is free.

SPECIAL ORDERS

Special Orders can be placed for a variety of merchandise to meet your special needs. Special Orders can be placed by the special order clerk or a customer service associate at the Customer Service Desk at your Navy Exchange. Special Orders are available from a variety of manufacturers for electronics, cameras, shoes, giftware, jewelry, major appliances, furniture, and more. A twenty-five percent deposit will be required when you place your Special Order.

PRICING

The Navy Exchange offers a price matching program. Your "Navy Family" store will match the price of any identical in-stock item sold locally - same brand, manufacturer, size, and model number. The Navy Exchange also offers a 14 Day Price Guarantee on any item originally purchased from the Navy Exchange and subsequently sold at a lower price by the Exchange or any local competitor.

NAVY LODGES

The aim of the Navy Lodges is to help take away some of the stress that comes with a PCS move. They're located at Naples, Sigonella, Rota, Atsugi, Sasebo and Yokosuka, and are on average 40 percent cheaper than comparable civilian accommodations. But they have the same amenities. Every guest room is oversized with air conditioning, cable TV with HBO, a DVD or video cassette player, direct-dial telephone service and a kitchenette complete with microwave and utensils. You'll also have housekeeping service, vending machines, video rental service and guest laundry facilities as well as handicapped accessible and non-smoking rooms. Free local calls, free in-room coffee and newspapers as well as convenient on-base parking are also available during your stay. For further information on Lodges go to: www.navy-lodge.com.
